"Neutered" dog question

Oh I almost forgot about the dominance thing.. Yes fixed dogs do still do that.. Even a female dog will do that to let other dogs know they are more dominant.. I used to have a fixed female that would try to dominate other dogs. But only once in awhile..

Thanks, everybody. I will stop having conniption-fits over this now.

Yup, like everyone else said it's a dominance thing. Our female English Bulldog is spayed and is always trying to mount our 6 year old daughter. Weird thing is she only does it to our daughter. Nasty dog

My "fixed" rott/lab mated with my female dobe. 3 times!

He wasn't fixed till he was over a year & 1/2. So all the hormones were still there, and the instinct.

He has an empty, pouch, for lack of a better word, also.
She just got spayed today!

Again, it has nothing to do with being "nasty." What it means is that your dog thinks that your daughter is below her on the totem pole. This manner of thinking on the dog's part can lead to problems later, if left unchecked. Your daughter needs to take more charge in feeding and caring for your dog, if she does not already, and both of them might benefit from a basic obedience or agility course to establish a bond between them in which she is the dominant party.

It was just a figure of speech. I guess I should have put a

next to "nasty dog" instead of

I know why she does it. My daughter IS the sole caretaker of the dog. She feeds, waters and scoops her poop. She is even the one who takes her on her walks up and down the driveway. The only time Lola (the dog) tries "dominating" my daughter is when she tries to play with her, like tug of war or running back and forth with her. I highly doubt my dog who never defend's herself would ever turn into a problem and hurt my daughter. JMO

This has probably already been said, but yes if he was recently neutered, he will still mount and they can still tie up. I found this out many years ago when we neutered our male. He was about 10 months old and already aware of his "ablilities". We had him fixed and our female went into heat with in days of his surgery. They tied up - because the swelling has nothing to do with the actual possibility of ejaculation.

I called my vet in a panic and he told me that they can actually continue to breed up to 2 weeks after surgery. I was like, Oh great! But he told me not to worry. The surgery was done completely and the dog should "get over it" in a few months once the testosterone dies off.

Just an FYI, our boy is now 11 and he'll still go after anything in heat! It's like he just doesn't know he can't really do anything. His drive is really, and amazingly, high!

My JRT 'loves' his stuffed kitty and seems to do the total deed. He was neutered at 5 months. I had him rechecked by the vet and was told all of his equipment was gone. The vet said to disipline him by crating when he does it. We did for a while, but it didn't help. We kinda of ignore it now and since he takes a nap afterwards....oh well.

My female humps her toys. It's a dominance thing, as well as a sexual thing.

But since you have a female in season I'm betting a sex thing this time.
