Nevadans?

Wow, Aubrey! I'm sending a passle of healing thoughts your way. Nothing but good news mending! Maybe your dad and Mama would like to hang out together? (I say this because THE BEST quote on the thread "Things you never said until you had chickens" was somebody was having a bad day and so their friend said "I'm sorry you had a bad day. Would you like to hold a chicken?" )

(something so true about that!)

Thanks guys!

I wish i could bring mama into the ICU! omg that would make the entire staff have a conniption and be just naughty enough to perk Dad up!

Thanks for the offer Missy but nah. Just need a few more hours in the day, is all. Were going to be playing the waiting game now waiting for the pelvis to heal. It split apart in two places near his spine and created a six inch opening in the front of him. Its gonna be a long road. You know, no kid wants to see their parent in this condition. Sometimes I feel like im the parent that constantly has this rebelious teenager I have to worry about! I guess you know what they say about payback, eh?

BTW guys i really am aware that my posts lately have been crammed with typos and errors, but i have been doing a lot of posting from my phone and its really a huge ordeal to scroll back and reread or edit the post. So i have just figured you guys understand. Im really not as illiterate as i come off on this thread! lol

So maybe it's because we've been more concerned about the subject matter of the posts, but I haven't noticed a typo at all. And I'm a grammar tyrant!

Ghosts: I've been refraining from stating what my actual beliefs in ghosts are, because they stem from a belief that we have a rather important reason for even being in this world. If I try to keep it religion-neutral, or at least not preach or make insinuations that someone might be right or wrong, do you want to hear them?
I love you Missy but I know that any statements here that revolve around religious beliefs will mushroom in a way that no one intends at the start. I don't feel like the ghost stories are a religious statement anymore than someone saying they just got back from church or telling a story that happened to take place at church. I also try to be tolerant of certain phrases that do denote religious beliefs such as the mention of prayers etc. Past that it can become a hotbed.

It's a shame too cause off-line you and I can discuss anything rationally and fairly and I know you are not one of those folks that would ever take things too far but I've seen it happen so many times here on BYC. It's a really ugly scene when it happens.

Sunny - Here's a picture of her egg. I've read on here her eggs will get darker as she lays more.
Beautiful!!!
Sheryl I've found that the eggs do get a little darker as they lay more, then they start lightening up right before molt, then all of a sudden- Blamo! Nice dark egg again!
Yep. That's my experience too.
Anyone for any fun plans this weekend?
We bought our roommate a vintage guitar that he's been looking for for a couple of years for his birthday and we put together a show with all of our favorite bands tonight that his and marks band is gonna play and were gonna give it to him durin their set! I'm so excited!
Also every year one of our favorite local non profits hosts a Halloween cover show where all us musicians get together and dress up as our favorite bands and play short sets. It's so much fun and had such a good turn out every year. Mark did Sam Cooke one year and it was AMAZING. He's done nirvana, iggy and the stooges, and this year the sonics.
That's tomorrow night and I literally look forward to this day every year. So I'm glad that's happening.
I have to think about fun things right now. Last night my dad was in a motorcycle accident and I spent the night in the ICU. Had to be to work at seven but got out early an have been sitting in the family surgery room waiting for good news. He broke his pelvis in two place and snapped his arm in half. Had to have five blood transfusions but I think his blood levels have finally hit normal. The surgeons seem confident they can save him so I am keeping a positive attitude for his wife. I'm very worried though
Oh no!!!!! Aubrey! I am so sorry for you! Sending lots of positive vibes to you and your Dad right now!!! We all love you here and reading this made my heart hurt for you as I'm sure it has for many folks! *huge hugs!*
To take it one step further, could those who went into detail on those things today, go back and edit them? It's the contact issue. Yes, I'm the one that sent the pm so I'm asking nicely. I hope no one gets offended by my request.
No not offended, just not sure how to gently tell you that I disagree. I don't wish to offend anyone either but since BYC is not a place where young kids hang out (the rules say you must be 13 years old at least) and, as far as I know, ghost stories are not even a PG thing (unless they show tons of blood and gore) I am going to allow the occasional ghost story on the thread. BYC dictates that the OP sets the tone for the thread and folks that wish to talk about something else are supposed to get the OP's approval.

This is not a religious thread and we have worked hard to keep religious beliefs out of the conversations. We have many people of many different beliefs on this thread and their conversation has definitely hinted at these beliefs at times and I don't mind that, even when I don't share your beliefs, but I will not censor folks to accommodate every religious belief on the thread. I'm sure you understand that this would be impossible to do with such a diverse group as ours. I hope you can understand that this is not meant to offend your sensibilities but this is the first time I have ever heard anyone say that it is wrong to share a ghost story now and then and I still believe it to be completely harmless.

If you have a problem with my decision you can pm me. Thank you.

I went home when he first got hauled off to OR to check up on her and she was doing great. She's digesting slower than I'd like but she's also burping a lot so I'm going to give her some monostat to keep yeast down and the crop from going sour again. Other than that she's walking better and even hopped down a stair on the deck
Thanks for your prayers! Last night was very scary. I got sick and almost fainted. I love my dad very much but the worst is over and I feel much better talking about it now. When he came out of sedation this morning the first thing he whispered to me was "hey aub.. how's your chicken?" LOL!
Awwwww!!! That's awesome Aubrey!!!

Sounds like a very positive step. Still hoping for a much faster than normal recovery! It sounds like he has a long road ahead of him... well you all do.

LOL! I'm not used to anyone using great grammar these days. Seriously it is not a big deal. We are just thrilled to have you here, period!

Well, I'm interested in any and all beliefs, experiences, opinions. Pam

I don't think that is at all necessary or appropriate to even ask. You jumped on another forum and plugged your political view, totally off topic and no on asked you to stop discussing it or go as far as remove it. If you're not fond of the topic, kindly pass over it. Pam

Oh Aubrey, how scary for you all. My husband split his pelvic bone open riding a bull and spent 4 days in the hospital. He said it was the most pain he'd ever experienced. It's dangerous for men to have damaged pelvis, so many important vessels in the area that can be easily cut! My husband broke his on our daughters birthday so I told him I had similar pain on the same day years before. Told him he was lucky a baby didn't try to come out an open orphice and they didn't give me a pain pump! Hahaha

Pam

Hey so who is going to the NNPFA exhibit tomorrow? I'm going to try to go! Nothing cheers me up quite like chickens
We can't I'm afraid. Back to trying to finish roofing and fencing this weekend plus we have a community meeting at the Fire Dept regarding disaster preparedness. It should be interesting and we are looking forward to meeting more of our neighbors. Are you gonna try to go or are you going to be at the hospital all day? If you sneak away for a bit to the show get some pics for us.

Only you could make a broken pelvis funny Pam. Aubrey's Dad might even laugh at that one in a couple of years. Well hopefully sooner than that.
