Australia - oh I bet that was an adventure! I would love to visit there, maybe a year or two, to really visit well.

Wisconsin - I spent a couple years there - when to school in 3 lakes, spent time in Rhinelander (home of the Hodag!

) and WOW the giant mosquitos (one of the states where if your outside and slap two pieces of bread together - you get a meat sandwich

and often the locals shout - Send more tourists, the 'squitos took the last group

Carol - I will gladly send you some sagebrush

Is this the finger-tip taster? The girl who was so curious about me - she is really very sweet.

I can't remember if it was this one or her sister Q-tip. They look a lot a like. Was it the larger one or the smaller one? This pic is of the smaller one and we're going to call her Snowball.

LOVE Almond and Cashew, or Peanut if Cashew is too hard to say. My Delaware is Della, like the singer. Was an easy name. Or Adell (my mom's middle name, she hates it, I don't tell her I might have to have an Adell. You could call your RIR X Jane, that is about as plain as names get.

I have a black star from mc murray I named (Black) Diamond - now they look like English copper marans.

I am open to anyone coming and going for chickens and eggs. I have my heart set on a few of those blue amerucana mixes from Horsefeatherz, they are so incredibly gorgeous. I have so many black amerucanas now my flock is starting to look shadowy. As far as breeding, I am going to try to limit myself to just the BCMs since my poor husband can't handle more than one chicken pen and I can only keep one roo per, and that has to be the BCM boy. Once I make some contacts and start selling all those capons and BCMs, he will ease up a bit and I can get a nice amerucana roo.

I have heard that PURE Arucanas, from Chile, are very difficult to breed, and the tail-less gene is lethal if crossed together - sort of like Australian Shepherds. If you are breeding, one must be a docked tail not a natural non-tail (or still have a tail, I guess). I gave up on Arucanas way back ago and am happy with my Amerucanas, or Easter Eggers. Is there much difference between AM and EE?

Love some of those other names - Fern, Rose, etc - we need a name thread, I guess.

Las Vegas is getting some GOOD weather, hope it will last.

The difference between pure bred Ameraucanas and EEs can be a confusing topic. An EE is any bird with the blue egg gene from ameraucana or araucana (rare) that has retained certain traits from these breeds, like pea comb and muffs and beards. There are links on the ameraucana thread with a ton more info. Even a bird that has 2 pure bred Ameraucana parents is considered an EE if it doesn't conform to the APA standards. There are a lot of these cross projects out there though from folks determined to get their new variety of Ameraucana accepted to the APA and changes are always in the works. So EEs can lay any color of egg from pink, green, blue, turquoise (rare but I want one!), white, brown and any variation of those colors.

Horsefeatherz has a great cross project going for EEs. I have 2 of her EEs and they are gorgeous! I'm pretty sure she is going to mix some of her pure bred Ams with some of her EE/Blue Orp birds to get more green egg layers. These would be beautiful birds (much prettier than typical EEs) and very likely to lay a green egg. And Genny, when you do, I want some of them! Also let me know if you cross Flrpl with any of your heritage Orps. I want a couple of those too!

Holly I will have to come next spring for a couple more BCMs. Love them!

Sunny, if i ever have a turquoise egg laying stock, i'll give you one...And actually, I have a great idea.
NVHS' colors are turquoise and black. I need some EEs, and isnt there a chicken that lays black? I'll show them school spirit, lol.

NV thread to all the new folks. Sorry I didn't last night.

Sunny, Welsummers are Dutch so I'm thinking Tulip or Bulb or something of the sort.
