Did the barred rock come from Mt. Rose? I still haven't gotten any eggs, and am not sure when I can expect them. Our barred rock is huge, but no eggs yet.

Do not even get me started. The meter changes to the new "They can read from the street without coming in your yard" was the solution to a 15 month nightmare with their meter readers refusing to follow instructions and read my meter. I know they are short handed blah blah blah but if you are going to give a job to a degenerate that refuses to do the job you have hired them for then it is just as bad as not hiring anyone to do the job. I would rather have the company say "We do not offer that service" than "Oh yeah we do, we're the best" and then their employees never follow through on even the most basic of tasks. Off my soapbox and hopefully the problem has finally solved itself.
So how is the moulting going? My babies are going through their first fluff to feather change. Dander everywhere and they look like they have the mange. *LOL*
Aubrey, how's the eggs coming along? Are you still extremely impressed with your BR's? Mine are still laying everyday. The White Crested Polish finally kicked in with their egg laying. The first day we got like a quarter sized egg and then the second day we got an egg that was literally half the size of the hen that laid it. My husband cringed in pain when I showed him. That poor baby. I told him that they would probably go back to normal medium sized eggs now which sort of made it better for him. Although I think I saw a fleeting thought pass his face that was like, "We'll get an army of Polish if they lay eggs this size on a normal basis."
We finally got Briteday's Silkie Rooster added to the flock yesterday. I think he was just amazed at all of the women he was just thrown into that was all his! hehe
Did anyone else get the hurricane weather we got here yesterday? It is almost like God is up there going "YOU SHALL NOT BUILD THIS CHICKEN COOP!" every time we get a full day where we can work on it we get the most awful weather. I hope everyone was safe and did not have any negative affects from all of the rain.
Looks like I wont be freezing my rear off in NY for the winter after all. Heading home tomorrow and I have decided to raise some meaties over the winter ! Should be fun. Anyone else local ( Vegas ) do any meaties ? I am going to place an order for next week so if anyone else is interested in getting any let me know and I can add them to my order.
I posted over in the Emergency section because i was worried about my hen Fred. he is going through such a hard molt, he looks like a RAW chicken with pins stuck in him! i'll try to get some pics tomight

Hi. Just out of curiosity, are you going to order eggs, or birds?
I am going to order birds. Min order is 25 and the price goes down in higher quantities over 50. I am going to order straight runs and they are $1.56 each shipped which is not too bad considering some of the prices to ship to Las Vegas are outrageous.
Looks like If I order them tomorrow they will be here either this week or the next depending on my date preference.
Hi everybody! Hope you all survived the downpour yesterday. I don't know what is up with all this rain! We normally get about 9" a year and we have had a kittle over 8" this month alone.
I'm curious, since to qualify as a desert an area has to get 14" of rain or less a year, how long do we retain that designation if we keep getting rain like this? Anybody know how many years they cover to average this stuff? I know, I know, one wet month doesn't mean a thing but it did start me wondering... I must have too much time on my hands these days.
Eglyntine good luck getting some decent weather to finish your coop. I know all about the "hurry up and get the coop done" blues. I think most of us can relate. I finally built a brooder in the garage to avoid that problem but it took awhile and many smelly, dusty weeks of babies in the house to get there.
Shanyalv glad to hear you get to come back home! That is good news.
lol i need to explain. i have 2 "roosters." they lay eggs but i call them roos because of their attitude/looks. lol sorry for the confusion
