I'm convinced that the more you can avoid doctors, the healthier you'll be.
(There's a reason we get a lot of medical malpractice cases, you know. You only get to hear about the ones that go public. There's an awful lot of cruddy docs out there still practicing because part of the settlement was "no disclosure" to anyone...even the licensing boards which regulate which doctors are incompetent. I've sat in on at least three depos where the doctors just flat-out killed the patient. Grisley to the max.) (The upside, though, is at least I get to find out which doctors I'm NEVER going to!)
I've got a trigger thumb that I'm dealing with. It's locked open. (Hey, it could've been my middle finger, so I'm not complaining that I have a perpetual "Thumbs up!") Thus far I've done two rounds of steroid injections and the third will be my last...and then I have to figure out if I want to undergo surgery on it. At present, I can still write on my steno machine and type because the thumb doesn't need bending movement to stroke the keys, but it's the little things, like turning a car ignition key or picking up change that when you haven't got right thumb movement you really notice. Apparently in the procedure they "shave" the tendon so it moves through the pulleys that are digit joints more easily...I've got a knot of scar tissue or massive inflammation or some such there now. My fear, though, is the dreaded "What if?" I mean, could I totally live without a right thumb? I'm sort of feeling like an ostrich with my head in the sand at times.... But I know that ignoring it won't make it disappear.

You are not abnormal. It sounds like you're blessed with an abundance of energy. And there's a reason why YOUNG people have kids. Old folks aren't going to run after them for too much or too long. ("Oh, just go play in the street. I'll catch up.") I look back on when I was in my 30's...I ran (operated and maintained) a stud farm, rode horses, did landscaping, farmed, had a poultry business, was on a college advisory board, belonged to a whole lot of clubs and organizations, kept house (cleaning and cooking) AND worked. (I only slowed down after a few unscheduled dismounts convinced me I didn't bounce as well as I used to). Right now I'm wondering what kind of vitamins I was taking back then because I'd sure like a stockpile of them now.

Owwww.... What a physical misadventure. How do you handle the winters? Can you predict the weather? That's the only benefit (?!) I find with fractures.....

Tomorrow at noon is the 3rd Annual New Year's Day Hatch setting time. Ladies and gentlemen, start your incubators!
(At present, my eggs are in storage in the casita with the thermostat set to 52 degrees. I'm out there a couple of times a day levitating carton corners. DH is amused that I'm making our guests SO comfortable...)
