Sorry to hear about your troubles but I'm gald to see you posting again. And happy to hear that your medical issues are getting straightened out. Doctors! They'll kill you if you're not careful. Have I ever told you all my doctor joke?

What's the differnce between God and a doctor? God doesn't think He's a doctor!

*LOL* That is so true.. After this last ordeal I have seriously considered quitting going to them at all. I think the stress of going through this garbage every month is worse on me than dealing with any amount of pain. heh

NIKKI! I'm so happy to see you here! I'm sorry for you medical issues. I'm always here to lend a hug.

Congrats on your maran! What a pleasant surprise!

I may be interested in some polish. Had I known you were ordering chicks I would have definitely split an order with you. I have a friend who wants three egg layer chicks so I was thinking of just ordering some polish chicks and getting him some sex links or something.

I love that your dad has an EBT. they're such a rare breed an I get so giddy when I see one!

That's funny! I figured she was close to you...

Feeling the stress of the move and the new job but I will catch up again soon! Life is not going as smooth as I would like it these days. Why do I keep thinking that someday life is gonna settle down and be just peachy all the time?

Just a little update on Smellvis the bad dog.

Today I took him in the back yard to pee. I have no clue where we put the leash since we moved, so I've just been letting him in the back before and after the chickens are in their coop. Otherwise he goes in the front yard.

Anyway so I took him out there and made him heel next to me the whole time. He stayed at my calf and I walked him around te perimeter. He looked at Petey ONCE and I tapped him on the shoulder and said," hey! Uh-uh. No." and he focused back on me and we kept walking. When we got to the spot that he killed to polish he would not walk any further. He was scared to go back to that spot. Because the spot wasn't the issue and the chicken was, I told him he better come and heel. He did so with his nose and tail pretty much all the way to the ground. He knows.

Walked back to the deck after he peed. Chuck ran past him and he perked his ears. Tapped and told him no and he was very quickly paying attention to me again.
Told him, "Get in the house, NOW."
he jogged to the house and stayed at the door waiting for me to come.

Can I please just mention that this dog has never once heeled in his life?

HE KNOWS. I think he can be reformed, but I don't think I'll let him be unsupervised ever again. He's a good dog but he's a terrier and I just can't blame him for doing what he was bred to do. I actually feel the need to commend him for fighting the urge for almost two years. Either way gold advice genny, this dog has never EVER obliged my orders as well as he has been these past two days. He knows this was serious, and I plan on using this time to work on the "heel" command cuz I'm really enjoying this.

Okay round two:

This time I just walked Elvis straight to his pee spot. We walked within two feet of the girls and he kept his eyes on the dirt the entire time. He stayed at my calf until we got to the pee spot. I told him "okay." and he walked about I've feet away, peed, then came straight back to me. He wanted to get giddy and jog ahead but I said, "uh-uh." and he stopped cold and walked to the deck at my heel. Crazy new Cochin ran by his path, he barely had a chance to lift his head at it before I corrected him. When we got to the deck I told him "okay" and he ran into the house.

When we got in I told him to sit and stay. I put some gravy in his food and fussed him slightly to let him know he did incredibly well. I really can't help but love this dog. He's a quick learner
