I was going to bring a fruit salad and a green salad but since that would be 3 salads I'll bring 1 salad and some ribs or pulled pork instead.

Congrats on the new egg!

Hi Sunny you can keep the fruit & green salads if you want to since they are 2 completely different salads but I do love pork how ever it's done as well.

Thanks on the egg Sunny.

Ok, I'll just make the salads smaller than I had originally planned. I'll decide later about pulled pork versus ribs. (picky about my cuts of pork so I'll see what the store has to offer).

I got my first egg from my new flock!
I'm about 90% Sure it came from one of the Australorps! Which I find odd since they are a week and a half younger than the Easter Eggers

Sounds like a plan!

We also need someone to bring drinks, ice, forks & spoons, and cups & plates. Not all from one person though!

I havent been on in awhile. Maybe I should give an update

Friday was the FFA Show. I showed and sold my pig, and I now have no pigs, and i'm happy with that! (other than the one in the freezer, which taste great. Got nice chops off him)

I pulled the divider fence out from my coop so the new chickens and the older chickens were forced to mingle and roost together. I am now 100% sure I have a rooster. He has crowed but you can just look at him and tell he is anyway. The rooster seems ok. Ive seen him peck one of his hens a couple times, but on the other hand ive watched him lead his hens out of the coop for the first time and over to something to snack on. I'm still not sure if I'm going to keep him but at this point I plan to. For all I know he could get really mean next week, and then into the stewpot

.

This weekend we got our first few eggs from the baby chickens. I got one today that i'm 100% sure is from the Australorps, and one a couple days ago which I'm pretty sure was from the same bird. I saw an Australorp in the box today though so I know for sure on today's egg. The baby eggs i'm getting this weekend have been the smallest ive ever gotten!

Anyway, theres my update! Whats new with everyone? I haven't checked BYC In awhile. I'll try to get on more often again!

Stupid PO! I broke down and bought FBCM eggs, as you all know, even though shipped eggs are much harder to hatch, because Wynette has the most beautiful eggs! Any way you probably remember that the eggs got here 2 days late and the box was dirty like they had manhandled it... well today I candled the first batch and only 6 are developing! Most of the others were non-starters.

If all 6, from the first batch hatch, I will still be a happy camper though.

I'm so glad she sent them in 2 separate batches because now I have great hope for the second batch! They arrived with 3 broken ones but they had slipped down between the bubble wrap and lodged in the corner (edge actually) where they had very little protection. She had sent plenty of extras though so this wasn't a problem. I did peek at the ones that were broken and even though they broke they were not scrambled and all were fertile. The box was nice and cool when I received it (the first one was really warm) and I let them rest for 24 hours before setting them. The bator is holding perfect temps and is right on with the humidity (I'm doing the weighing method to check moisture loss) so, hopefully this second batch will have a lot of healthy peeps hatch!

Congrats on selling the pig Jeep! I've been meaning to ask you and Ron, how was the pig raising process? Not thinking of doing this now but maybe someday?

well we went to pick up our goat today. It did not go well.

That thing was HUGE! she had to be AT LEAST 175 lbs! I have never seen a goat so tall. she was absolutely humungous. I may have been sold anyway as she was so pretty but she was extremely skittish. did not want either of us anywhere near her. She was so timid and frightened and it just did not feel right. I think mark and i are just going to wait a few months and go with nigerians or pygmys, as (according to wikipedia!) they both are tiny and give milk too..

ETA: sunny! im so sorry about your eggs! good luck though!

ron and jeep- HI!
