We got the flooring done, only two trips to Home Depot today! LOL!
We were able to take the chicks outside for some sunshine today! They loved pecking at the dried grass. I imagine there is enough
grit in my soil so I don't to worry about problems. I have an endless supply of sand... see the arena in the back ground! LOL!
I am sure they will love to dust bathe when they are older out there... supervised of course! Too many hawks.
Thats great Sunny! Im still reeling from the fact that my blue birchin marans lays a lighter egg than my brown layers! yeesh, oh well, huh? Congrats!
Congrats Sunny!! How exciting!
We had a record day today with 8 eggs. Another creamy colored egg and a welsummer egg included in that. Waiting for another green egg, though. I started building the playhouse for the kids today. Got the base and floor done. When I mentioned getting enough materials to make a playhouse when I started the coop build, Tyler said that it was really going to be another coop.Well, I hadn't thought of that before he said that but now I'm building it in a way that we can convert to a coop later when the kids outgrow it.![]()

I believe I have 13 girls out there. Shoot I'm so tired I can't remember for sure. hahaha
A playhouse/future coop sounds like a great idea!

Oops, sorry. I forget that everyone is not a marans freak like me. For marans eggs there is a color scale that goes from 1-9. A 9 is so dark the egg looks like dark chocolate mixed with cabernet. Every marans owner is hoping for a 9. Very few ever get a 9 though.![]()
At this stage I'd be very happy with an eight though. Hopefully I will get a couple of hens out there that will give me 8s.![]()
great job sunny
lol I'm so proud you'd think I'd laid it myself! Thanks Seth.
