I had two 8 week old Lady Amherst pheasants eaten from a 5x5' cage with 1 inch square wiring. All that was left were some intestines and some feathers.
I have learned my lesson, and I hope you don't need to learn it the hard way, so take this advise seriously. A raccoon will pull your chickens or pheasants right through a 1 inch wide opening and they wont have a chance.
