i somehow acquired 2 runaways and i have questions. please help

i don't know how old they are though. my guess was almost a year now

Two of mine are also young, a year in August, but she’s dropping feathers right and left. I also thought they didn’t molt this young, I guess she didn’t get the memo

Yes but she’s always grumpy! I think molting is quite uncomfortable, so I’ll cut her some slack

Without getting into the chicken feed wars , you might try augmenting their diet with extra (animal, if possible) protein. Because in fact, growing new feathers does require a lot of protein!

It’s probably not worth buying a 20 kg bag for two hens, but in the US there are feeds especially for feathers (show breeds, etc.)

i'm lucky if i can find layer pellets or chick crumble. if i had cows instead, i could get them anything! lol! would scrambled egg do in a pinch?

You could also switch back to chick crumble which is higher protein
