i somehow acquired 2 runaways and i have questions. please help

Two of mine are also young, a year in August, but she’s dropping feathers right and left. I also thought they didn’t molt this young, I guess she didn’t get the memo 🤣
oh! phew! that was my guess... august for these guys but i could be wrong. how is yours getting on? is she grumpy? lol!

Without getting into the chicken feed wars 😁, you might try augmenting their diet with extra (animal, if possible) protein. Because in fact, growing new feathers does require a lot of protein!

It’s probably not worth buying a 20 kg bag for two hens, but in the US there are feeds especially for feathers (show breeds, etc.)

i'm lucky if i can find layer pellets or chick crumble. if i had cows instead, i could get them anything! lol! would scrambled egg do in a pinch?
