After a preview of summer the chickens had a lovely day foraging for hours outside their yards. Each coop gets a few hours out each day, but today was so nice it was close to 6. Anyway this evening DH was gathering the yellow coop in and came up short on the beak count, and of course it was Golda, one of the Speckled Sussex. He searched around the house, under tables, car, trailers, lawn mowers and boxes in the garage. Finally he was ready to give up (I was in the shower) and was coming in through the garage and a shadow on the washer door caught his eye. Golda had gotten into the front loading washer. I leave the washer door open so it dries out and does smell. Of course she left a gift, but went peacefully to her coop. Now to remember to shut the washer when they are out.
