Never EVER feed chickens crab meat

Long story short. Had a ziploc bag of questionable crab meat fall into my hands. While it was ok for human consumption, we decided to give it to the chickens.

It wasn’t a lot.... about 1.5 cups spread 12 ways.

Nobody died.


My coop smells like a seafood cannery in summertime. That crab meat went right through them after fermenting overnight in their system. Most godawful smell that I’ve ever associated to a chicken coop. Now the fresh 4” matt of pine needles I put down last weekend will be going in the burn pile furthest away from the house.

You’ve been warned!!!!!

Also.... I didn’t think about salt content. No harm no foul this time.
