never seen this before..

A sparrow got caught inside our coop and when I looked in on them Rockstar, our Polish Frizzle, was pecking the heck out of it. It was a little more animal planet than I wanted to see. Today I saw our araucana picking at a dead bird. I had heard chickens can become canivors. Is that true?

OH,, YES!!!!! if one of your chickens has a sore,, you need to seperate it, untill it is healed... if not the rest of the chickens will pick at the sore,, to the point of killing the "sick" chicken.. and then eat it... i have seen that happen a couple times.. once in my own flock,, and once in a friends flock..
i saw a small sore on one of my chicken in the morning and thought i will put it in a seperate cage when i get home from work,, it was too late..( i felt horrible)
