Never though this would Happen!

mess with my birds and I'll do whatever it takes! lol. I used a really long stick to whack the skunk and a paint ball gun. He never really sprayed, only once did I get the backlash, no direct hits though, lol.

I've considered using a paint ball gun on the deer in my garden. Thought I was the only one!

My husband toys with the idea of loading some paint balls with mineral oil for a little extra punishment....

I unloaded half a box on that skunk, it was dripping blue by the time I was done with it, and it had to HURT. It wasn't moving or breathing when I was done, but he crawled off sometime in the night. Didn't come back for a loooong time. The chicken coop took some paint too, it was pretty funny in the morning. Paint splatter and blue skunk foot prints everywhere.

We don't have those around here but I would do what everyone else says - get rid of it now before you have a mess of them around for good!

Oh, I'll bet he was hurting!! Probably knocked the wind out of him. My husband gets nasty looking welts that take weeks to go away! I don't get paintball. My father-in-law always said "give me ten bucks and I'll throw some rocks at ya".

I suggest you make your coop so predator proof that a possum or coon or anything else is not a threat. As soon as you move one pest, there will be another to take it's place. I would hold my coop up to anything short of a bear.

You could shoot him and emilinate the problem, no muss no fuss...

OR

You should use a live trap. If you are concerned about catching your cat, use marshmallows and pancake syrup for bait. Cats USUALLY don't like it, but oppossums and coons do! (as someone siad earlier, even if you do catch your cat, you can let it go unharmed, but if you use this as bait, you shouldn't) Then you can re-locate the little feller if you'd rather do that as opposed to killing him. Good luck!

Put out a trap - guns seem out of the question for you. Once you have it trapped, dispatch it, don't "rehome" it.
Marinate overnight in red wine and roast it.

Yeah, I don't know if I will ever eat Davaroo... but big props to those who do..

Shooting it really is out of the question unless it was a BB gun or paintball gun since I am in City limits...

Live traps at the feed store are kinda pricey and I do not have much money at the moment...

So I guess every night I will be up trying to scare it off before I go to bed...

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE RESPONSES!

I really appreciate everyones help/suggestions!

Want to here a back woods live trap?

I'm not sure how you're set up, but maybe this will give you an idea, ok?

I used to have a possum that would get on my screened in porch and get in our garbage and fight with my cat. I couldn't figure out what to do about it, and my aunt taught me this trick.

Use a tall - like 30 gallon size - trash can. Empty it and put some kind of bait in it the bottom of it like pancakes or marshmallows or whatever (don't they eat just about anything?). Then put something next to the trashcan to make so that it won't fall over - but it will also give the possum something to climb on to get into the trash can.

The possum will go for the bait and not worry about how to get out until after it eats. Then you've got him trapped because he can't climb back out again.

It worked perfectly for us, and the one we trapped was full grown - not just a baby. Beware though - it will "play possum" when you come near, but it most certainly isn't dead. And beware even more.......the smell that will come from that trash can is unbelievably disdainful!

Then you can do whatever you decide to do with the varmit.

Take him to the country and let someone else shoot him!

P.S. another benefit is that a cat is not likely to get trapped in there. cats probably won't jump in there to begin with.

Good luck!
