Picking a breed? It's a labor of love, very individual. Some breeds and colors would be a lot easier than others! Partridge color, for example, is very difficult, and usually show breeders maintain separate flocks to get correct male colors and correct females.
White, on the other hand, not so difficult. Clean legs easier than feathered legs too.
Bantams take less space and feed!

Barred Rock. Nothing too fancy, just hatchery quality. Oh, but she's smart and sweet. She's top hen!

Thanks for the advice. I have heard some of this from the articles I have read. I usually do extensive reasearch before I get new animals.

I have one barred rock right now she is only seven weeks though.

I love Speckled Sussex! Beautiful! Wanted to breed them, until the roosters turned into jerks a bit too often. Love the hens though!
