It would have to be airtight to be used as a waterer.

You could do holes in the side and still use it as a feeder​

Why did I just now read this? I just spent $50 on 2 feeders at my local feed store. Ugh. Oh well- supporting the local business is good, I guess, although that $50 could have gone towards something else new for the coop or run! At least I am already planning to make my own waterers... that would have been another $50!
