New 4 x 8 Chicken Tractor - pics, material list & COST!

It looks great! I do have one question: is there ventilation somewhere that I can't see? Does it get hot in the coop area? Just wondering if the eggs would get kinda warm if they sat for a while on a summer's day.

NICE !!

Now that is my kind of tractor! I loved the first one for Bob but could see how I would makes changes to suit me and love the changes you have made on this one. But still, I would change things for myself even on this one. Great on the cost though! Mine are never cheap!
I do love a wonderful, useful tractor and this is very much to my liking.
you put that sucker on the back of a truck? Wow! I just drag mine or turn them in a radius. I put one on the back of a truck when I had to haul it to another pasture but it was only 4x6 and has less protection from the elements than yours has.

But I do want to say..........

Between the open pop door and the open ribs of the corrugated walls and roofing, it seems to exchange air pretty well. Bob moved out of his tractor the end of May and Trailer Trash Mom with her three illegitimate chicks moved in. June is our warmest month and they all did fine. The shaded run helps to keep the temperature down. They would be inside the coop section, even on the hottest days. I think any eggs sitting around will be fine. It doesn't seem to get any warmer in there than my other coops.

I didn't use anything on the bottom of the run, or coop. We don't have any predator problems where these guys are parked. I don't think the roof weighs even 20 lbs. Most of the wieght comes from the framing, which will get lighter as the lumber dries out. The metal is only 31 gauge, so it's very light. You could swap it out for 3/8 plywood and probably add less than 50 lbs.
