Hi guys. I have 5 Jersey giant hens and a Jersey giant rooster. I recently acquired 2 four month old white leghorn hens. I set them up in a smaller coop next to my main coop for about 2 weeks to get all of them acclimated. I moved them into the flock Thursday. It went better than expected. Some chasing and that's about it. However the older hens would not let them in the coop the first night. They went into the coop the next day when the others came out. Now the leghorns won't come out of the coop. They eat next the the others perch next to them walk freely around the inside of the coop together just fine but they will not go out to the run. Is this just some thing that will take time or what. This is the first time I have introduced to members to the flock. My rooster also seems to always has his eye on them the hens really never pay them any mind. The rooster has been dancing for them and trying to get their attention but they clearly want nothing to do with him right now.

Make just take more time, how long has it been?

As long as everyone's getting food and water and no one is bleeding, let them figure it out.

Hello. It's just been since Thursday July 3rd. The newbies are eating with the hens and drinking with them as well. They seem to get along fine they just won't go out into the run. It does seem like they are getting closer and closer to the run door and exploring the coop more. They just get out of dodge when that rooster tries to approach them. He makes them nervous I can tell. And my leghorns are sort of flighty and nervous acting anyways It seems

Yeah, just give them time, sounds like you actually had a pretty smooth integration, and be glad that's the only problem you're having. :)

Leghorns can be flighty, and they are still juveniles....are they laying yet?

aart no the leghorns are not laying yet but the giants are. They were born in March so they are 16-17 weeks old. One has a good sized comb and I heard that means it should be soon but I'm not sure if that is true or not. The other barely has any comb at all. They don't seem real big but the jerseys are huge so most chickens don't look big next to them
