Hey Hotwings, you around? We got the addition done in the barn and the new chicks (oh, yeah now they are pullets, right?) are enjoying themselves. They can't wait to see their Aunt Mary.

Here a few pics for ya...
Gary, built in some nest boxes. I don't how many they will use, they play in them now.

Here are most of them hanging out at the feeder.

Buffy is still in there in the dog crate. They don't seem to bother her. I think we are going to candle the eggs again tonight to see if there is anything going on. Today is day 11, so we should be able to see them better.

So what do you think?

New coop looks great Denise. How much you want to bet when they start laying they will be fighting over just one box lol. You should fix your old coop like this. One of your birds looks kinda darker than the other Buffs, could maybe that be one of your Isa Browns.

Thanks everybody. The little tan pullets are supposed to be 4 buff orphingtons and 2 isa browns, but they all look the same to me. So I am thinking maybe I got all 6 buff orphingtons. That would be ok with me though

Went down tonight to check on the babies and all 10 of them were stuffed into ONE nestbox. I was a crazy sight. I would not have believed it if I had not seen in with my own two eyes.

Aren't they the goofiest creatures? I swear, chickens are so entertaining!

Freebie, your coop is fabulous! Great set-up and so large!
I had read that straw was best for nesting boxes, but I see you are using shavings. My girls haven't set foot in their boxes, maybe I'll take the straw out and put in shavings instead. Thanks!
