new additions (OVERLOAD PIC UPDATE)

Well I'll be quite interested to see what yours look like when they get their feathers in. Here are my Runner babies, which I hatched from a blue Drake and either a blue duck or Saxony duck (their were two moms). I jumped to the conclusion that my light ducks would be blues because I was expecting mostly blues with the possibility of some blacks and some splash as well. Well they definitely aren't blues and they aren't very white. As of four weeks, they are mostly cream colored (still with slightly grey heads) and there is a wee bit of blue 'splashing' in their wing feathers. I'm thinking the Saxony must have been 'mom' to these two (my other two were black) and the cream color is from her. I'm sooo curious to see what a few more weeks of feathers brings. I really think we need a running thread here some time that compares duckling pics to what they look like 'all grown up'.

Your little blue silkie (non-bearded?) is adorable. My ducks do great with my Silkies so it will be fun having them grow up together.

well I hope what Im doing is ok, I put the runners, cayuga and silke in with the bantys because they are dirting the small cage I had them in so bad, the next morning the hay is SOAKED. The runners stay close to the cayuga like it would their mom, the runners can fit through the holes in the cage but I doubt they would go out because the cayuga cant. I cant think of anything to do,I cant keep them in the cage anylonger.

I switched things up from my last post.I got an old rabbit cage and took off the bottom liner and put it in the yard, then placed a THICK rubber mat on top like a roof, then put a small tub full of hay inside the cage so they can sleep in. The grass should suck up the poop better then hay.
