Hello BYC family! My name is D'Angelo and I live in Georgia. We have just gotten two new additions to our family, our Rhode Island Red and our Bar Rock hen. We look forward to sharing our journey with you all. I am new to this so you can expect a lot of requests for information and advice. Meet the ladies.

Everyone here is very nice and there is SO much collective knowledge! I have an RIR chick in the brooder that hatched yesterday, I have lots of breeds already, but she's my first RIR. I'm trying to handle her very frequently in the hopes that she will grow up to be friendly, as I have heard the breed can be a bit standoffish.

Congrats on your new girls!

Hi D'Angelo, it's nice to have you here! I would suggest getting another chick or two...chickens are flock animals and will do better in a group. Plus, no matter how well we take care of them, sometimes things happen and a chick will be lost, that leaves 1 lonely single chick (a very unhappy single chick).

Best of luck and thanks for joining us!

Welcome and Congratulations!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
