I just got these lovely silkies yesterday and I am unsure of how to tell the gender, they're pretty quiet and calm compared to the rest of my flock, I heard one of them sing once, but I'm unsure of which one, the guy who I purchased them from who is pretty awesome, said they should be laying around spring time and I can switch one out if I have a roo, but yeah, male or female, how do I tell?

i'd say the silkie (one on top) is a hen. the friz i have no clue.

The one in the lower part of the photos looks like a hen. The one on top could be a hen, too, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm pretty sure that the lower Silkie is a pullet. The crest looks fairly round, and I don't see much comb and wattle. I can't tell with the back Silkie, though.
