Can't believe it's been 2 months since I updated on the coop... sheesh. Where did the summer go? We have had a couple of really good frosts now, so this last couple of weeks we finished dropping the insulated ceiling, wrapping the watering system with heat cables, and litterally battening down the hatches. I have one more upper-level pen to make... I have two so far... for the quail. The silkies will be in the lower level, since they don't like to roost high up.
I'll have to get more pictures soon... it's looking nice. I just hope it's as functional as I planned it to be. The original layer coop was very carefully planned, but it has been revamped and modified 3 times now. I guess you really do learn as you go.
It is also freezing at the moment. Literally... 32.5°F at 9:18pm, and falling. Clear skies, so there's no warmth to be had. We will see what this coop is made of. It's 45°F in there right now. I have a remote sensor for my weather station in there at chicken level.
I can watch what's going on in there from my desk. Now I just need to get the surveillance camera in there... hee hee!
