New Alaskan breeders coop - finally!!! (pics)

Beautiful coop and scenery. I have a building technical question, I am planning essentialy the same type of siding, over lapping the boards. How do you finish off the corners of the building to prevent gaps. I could try taking the corners off the side of my house to figure it out but I don't think DH would appreciate that too much.

Do the end boards meet at the corner and a trim piece is put up, but with working with boards that are rough cut they wouldn't necessarily always be the same width as the other corner board. This has me really stumped. Sorry, if it is a silly question with an answer that I will go

The coop is wired... no running water, though.

I would love a B&B... I had thought to do that years ago, but now everything is going to the birds... literally! LOL!

Just like Homer is a "Quaint little Drinking Town with a Fishing Problem".

Actually, there's a 4'x20' hallway down the middle.. perfect for a couple of cots in a pinch! LOL! Maybe I could offer free "lodging" in exchange for some poop-scooping?

We finished the corners with 4" wide planks. The flitching meets at the corner, making a "V". Run a bead of foam insulation along the corner, then attach the planks so that one overlaps the other in an L shape. That finishes it off nicely.

Thanks, see I knew it had to more simple than I was thinking. Where is a Homer Simpson Doh icon/smiley when you need one one or a self slapping forehead one. lol. Logistics solved on this one thank you very much.

Victoria,

This is a fantastic plan. The coop looks nice and sturdy and well thought out for the comfort of your birds and the low maintenance for yourself. Thank you for sharing your photos with the rest of us, the scenery is magnificent.

I will follow this thread to see what your results are. All the best and Happy Thanksgiving.

It will likely be April before I get "FINISHED" photos, complete with birds.
