New ameraucana not laying

Hi all! We received two ameraucanas back in September from a neighbor. Hatched in mid May I believe and they haven’t produced any eggs yet. I know the colder weather ( SE PA here) doesn’t help them but are zero eggs normal for the first year? One has a crooked beak and figured we may not get eggs from her but the other one isn’t producing either.

Easter eggers are known to be late bloomers, plus if it's winter where you are, they might not lay until the days get longer?

It's not the cold, it's the short days.
Is the crooked beak able to eat and drink on it's own?
