I am 63 years and embarking on a new adventure of raising chickens. I adopted my 5 chicks about 2 weeks ago and immediately had questions I didn't see answered in the books I had been reading. In a panic I started googling which led me to backyard chickens .What a wonderful informative friendly site!
I am looking foward to watching my chicks grow and to find out what breed they are. I told the hatchery helper I knew I wanted pullets but would like an assortment of breeds for variety and fun. In my excitement I didn't ask what breed they were .
Other interests I have are gardening, crocheting and sewing.
 
Welcome.. you have entered addiction in the later part of your life!! But it is healthy in that you have enjoyment! Eggs and meat if you go that route. Although I have had chickens most of my life these are the first ones I have time to enjoy. Go out in the yard and they come running, very helpful in the garden...

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
