I have 8 eggs, 9 originally, but one was a yolker. Khaki Campbell. Been incubating for 14 days, growing GREAT. All but one. It's awkward...so here goes. This egg has a live duckling, it's moving around. BUT...where I could once see veins connected all the way around in the sac, I can't. All I can see is, what to me, looks like a ring, but not a complete ring. It is thicker in some spots than others, but this little babe won't give up. Should I hang on to it a little longer?

Welcome to the forums.

Yes! If the duckling hasn't given up, why should you? Good luck with your hatchings.

Welcome to BYC!
If you can still see the baby moving and alive I would leave it to keep incubating. It's important not to candle and handle the eggs too much so wait until you stop turning the eggs and do last checks to see if there are any eggs that need to be thrown out before locking down the incubator for the hatch.

We usually only candle 2 times with each batch of eggs we set. First we candle at day 7 and pull out any eggs that were not fertile or developed blood rings and then we candle for the last time at day 25 when we would stop turning and put the incubator on lock down. We check the second time for any eggs that have quit early and only keep eggs with live babies in them to go through the hatch. You risk the chance of having a bad egg explode and bad eggs are a source of bacteria which is not something you want in an incubator.

Hope this helps..... If you have a live baby leave it to cook some more.

So, the egg I thought wasn't going to make it, didn't. :( It ended up just being a round-ish blob. I candled a couple times, it just didn't continue developing. BUT, we do have 7 that are 6 days away from hatch day!!!!!!!!! My girls and I are super excited <3

Sorry you lost one
