Just bought two chicks. Unfortunately one died and i have 1 chick remaining. I have this chick for 6 weeks and is growing fast.

Can anyone please tell me if i should buy another chick or is it ok for chick to be on thier own

i think I would buy another chick,so it would have a friend,but we use to have just one chicken for a while and it did ok but it was big already

! Pleased you joined us! My vote is yes - get a replacement chick - the one left won't be happy on its own.

chickens are flock animals - they need a buddy. It would be best if you could find one about the same age or size. Chicks can generally go outside when they are fully feathered out but, I think they are best confined to a coop at night. They don't move in the dark so are easy pickings for predators.

sorry for your loss. Chickens are flock animals and do best with a buddy or two. For now you could give it a stuffed toy to cuddle with and a mirror, so it thinks it sees another chick.

thanks. Might try the mirror trick. If i get another chick should it be same age or does it not matter. My chick is getting quite big.

What about if the surrounding they live in have little access to grass and natural nutrients. Any suggestions.
My back yard is small with only little patch of green.
