Hi everyone I'm a new urban city quail person!

Three weeks ago I bought 10 three week old quail in hopes of raising them for their delicious eggs; which I hope they will be producing soon enough. I have read several books and have been coming to this site often so today I decided to join! Books weren't enough and some of the things I've learned here were forehead slapping moments. Such as buying a chicken coop and them not going inside because they don't perch! I'm correcting little mistakes thanks to this place and hopefully I can train them to go up there.

I have been doing tons and tons of research and will be trying my best to raise my babies on soy/corn free organic feed. I'm trying to add more protein to their 24% feed and have been adding grains like amaranth and quinoa into their diet, and well as chia seeds. I'm thinking about peas next. So far so good!

I'll try to post pics soon and I look forward to hearing from you all!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Congrats on your quail :celebrate I hatched and raised some cortunix quail and they were lovely little birds to keep. They were so tiny when they hatched just like little bumble bees. You might like to drop by the quail section for all the quail chat. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/48/quail
I'm more than sure all the quail keepers there will be able to help you with any questions that you may have.

Wishing you the very best of luck with your quail in the future and I hope you have some delicious eggs soon.

Enjoy BYC :frow
