howdy from Texas y'all,
I been keeping chickens for over 6 years now. I have currently 16 total feathered friends, 1 turkey 2 Bennie hens 1bennie roo, 1 polish 2 baby silkies a few Americana mixes a cochan and a couple Rhode island whites... I also have 2 dogs, sarg is the chicken guardian and Angie is not too smart. We have a indoor cat foodie, he loves his food. I got a small pond with some big goldfish and 1 koi right now. We hope to get more koi soon. Our pond got a hole in it so we had them in our fish talk for a while but its working now.
I did just lose the love of my life a couple weeks ago, Gracie, she was a good little chicken who looked like a blue Americana but I don't think that what she was. She loved to be held and kissed and would always be tugging on my pants to be picked up.... I miss her everyday. She tipped a basket over on herself on a hot day, I have no idea how long she was out there like that. I came back home and found her instantly and tried to get cold water on her and tried CPR but I don't know how to CPR a chicken or what to do in that situation. I can't help but feel like I could've done more to help her. So please if anyone has had this happen and knows what to do in this situation please let me know and I will do better next time hopefully there won't be a next time.
