New, and scrambling more than just eggs 😅

Hi! We got our first round of chicks this Spring. 4 Isa Browns, 1 Brahma, 1 Barred Rock, and 1 Silkie rooster (oops). A few things we learned the hard way already: 1) Silkies can’t be sexed as chicks, 2) It’s hard to integrate a second set of chicks into a small coop with already established young layers, and 3) Small store-bought kit coops are hard to winterize for cold Indiana winters. All that aside, we are having lots of fun and we love our girls (and boy)!

Silkie are tough from the get go but welcome to Backyard Chickens this is great place had 4 but lost 2 to age still have 2 old ones

Silkies are one of the most difficult breeds to sex early. Often you cannot be certain till they either crow or lay eggs.
