Hi all!!! I am new to BYC as a member, and to raising chicks, but have been on many, many times researching, trouble shooting and just having fun!!
I have a few questions that I am hoping some of you experts can help me with!!
First off, I am beginning to wonder about one of my giant buff Cochins...she has always been quite a bit bigger than her "sister" (same age), but now her comb is really beginning to come in and is already turning red, while the other giant buff'a comb is still not colored and smaller. She is 6 weeks old could she possible be a rooster? The feathers seem to be the same on both.
Second question is about 3 of my other chicks. They are 5 weeks, and when I bought them I thought they were ameraucanas. Now, after doing my homework (regretably late), I'm thinking they are not. I am still very confused about some things Aracauna, Ameraucana, and EE (hopefully got those spelled correctly) so here goes...
Cleo is just now getting a small tail...much smaller than the other two's, and yet she seems to be getting tufts. What would you make of that?
Tootsie had big puffy cheeks when she came home, and has a tail also, bigger than Cleo's, but not as big as the third, and also seems to be getting ear tufts. Also, her legs seem to be what I would call "olive".
These two also are getting longer pointy Hackle feathers. Could they be roosters??
Ok, I think that is all for now, and I am looking forward to hearing what you have to say!!
