Congrats!! So, is she going to stay chestnut or is she going to gray out? My mare just had a colt on May 19th... A little Dun out of my grulla stallion

The Dad is a sorrell, so she will stay brown I hope. She is very bright, so I can't wait to start working with her.

very cute...I think she will go grey tho..you can already see the grey in her flanks and around her eyes..

She looks like she'll gray out to me too....very cute though! Unfortunately gray is a dominant gene....so any of her foals, regardless of sire, should go gray.

...actually what colors were the dam's parents?...if they were both gray, she could be homozygous which would mean she will throw ALL gray foals.

I will have to try and find her pedigree.....jinx on the grey, lol. She is getting ready to go out in the field this weekend, trying to mess with her so she will be more used to me.

She's a beauty. I had a colt this year that was a light brown and now turning dk bay dun to almost a black dun or smoky black. We also had a red dun paint filly that is now a dunalino, so until they shed out you never know,
