New arrival of chicks and they are dying

I had a chick manage to get on the outside of the chick pen in the chicken yard. It was raining and cold. And since he couldn't find his way back in to snuggle with the others he almost froze. I thought he was dead. What I did was put him in the incubator. It's a few degrees warmer and once he was dry and warm he was fine and is still fine three months later. If your chickies got too cold in transit maybe you could try putting them in the bator and warm them up a little better?

I don't know where you live, but maybe they were exposed to too cold of temps/too long of transit. Very sad, I am sorry for your losses. Usually a hatchery will reimburse you for any that die within 48 hours of arrival. Hope they'll make it right by you!

I would take a medicine dropper/seringe and fill it with water. Squeeze the dropper/seringe just enough for the begining of one drop of water to come out. Once the drop it half way out touch it to the tip of the chicks beak. When you do this they will move there beak and drink the water. You do NOT want to squirt water down there throut or they could drowned but just a drop at a time on there beak could help. I had a week one when I got my order last year and I did this to her about every 5 minutes just a few drops. She finaly got the hang of it and new that there was water in the dropper. I moved the dropper closer to the waterer everytime and adventualy held it right over the water in the waterer. She then figured out there was water in that also.
