I just got baby chicks and was told by one friend to turn the heat light off at night so they could sleep someone else told me to leave it on. What should i do? What is the best for my new girls
Thanks Lisa

Leave the light on. They need the heat.

I keep mine on 24-7 but provide a saller box to go iside to get out of the light . capri sun, box. you can do a heating pad for them at night too.

Absolutely leave it on. Chicks need heat when they are babies. With out it, they wont

survive. Chicks sleep just fine with the light on.

Once they have all their feathers,

they can go with out a light.

Chicks need supplemental heat for the first few weeks of their lives, 24/7. If you turn off the heat lamp, where will they get that heat???

I use an infrared heat lamp, so the light is red, which does allow them some darker time at night, unlike using the white heat lamps all the time.

Don't turn off the heat lamp!!!!! The chicks need the heat even more during the cooler night time than during the day. Use a red bulb to avoid bright blaring light at night, but don't turn it off unless you want chicksicles.
