New Babies - 1 RIR, 1 SLW and...1 Robin!?!? (Photo)

UPDATE: The Robin baby is hanging in there. Seems to be doing okay on the canned dog food. The little guy has started making noise to let me know when he's hungry - about every hour - and opens his beak wide when he sees me. Still giving about 3 lumps of food the size of a pea at each feeding and that seems to satisfy. I am a little concerned that it's not giving enough water, so tomorrow will try to find a few worms to feed. An old high school chum of mine is the Animal Control Officer. Called her this morning for a referral to someone who might take on wild birds like this. She says there is a lady in town, but she hasn't returned my call, yet. I really would like to turn this little guy over to someone more qualified. If only I could have located the nest...I understand that Robin mamas will not reject their babies even if they've been handled by humans. I don't know what to think about the prospect that this little one may not be able to fend for itself once it fledges. Hate to think I didn't save its life, but only delayed its death.

Congrats on the new chicks. I am so glad you took poor robin in and are helping it, hope you find someone to take over so you can concentrate on the new chickies.

My new chicks do that too! Although with them it's not a "They're coming to feed me response" it's more like "Oh No! It's the evil hand thing again! Run everyone!"

you've got a great opportunity there and will certainly have a wonderful bird for years to come. I wonder if it will have an urge to migrate in the Fall or if it will stick around.

UPDATE: Baby Robin has been taken in by a bona fide wildlife rescue organization and will be taking a ferry ride to Friday Harbor today

Prognosis is very good. Have been told they are very adroit at reintegrating most of these wild birds to the wild. I am so grateful to be relieved of the responsibility. Now I can get back to my 6 wk old Light Brahmas in the Big Girl House and the two new fluffy butts (SLW and RIR) in my brooder

Thanks to all for your interest and good wishes.
