These are the new additions to the family this year! Another New Hampshire Red Thelma 2.0 (to replace Thelma, who had an unfortunate accident last summer) and a female duckling Angel to be a companion (I hope) for the Devil duck. I am not sure of the breed of the duck yet, the feed store doesn't separate them and they are just sold as large ducks.

Anyway they are both approximately 9 days old now, healthy, and growing like crazy. I have been letting them venture outside, with supervision, since it is so warm here and so far there has not been much interest from the "family" yet. Today when I took them out to stretch their legs, the family was a little more curious, so I let them get close to see what happened. One of my buff orpington's, Ellen, did try to peck the duck and ruffled up her feathers at her. But in Ellen's defense, Angel did hiss at Ellen when she got to close to Thelma 2.0. The others just got a good look and wondered off again. It was funny to watch that little duck get hateful to big ole Ellen. Does anyone have any tips for integrating the two babies with the "family"? I am really worried about Devil duck since he can be so hateful. Thanks for any advice and help.

Blessings
Tina
