New babies and now worry

The pip was really large and I could see her head and beak moving but nothing else was. Then I used a flashlight and could see that the membrane was really dry. So I took a chance...

I am not 100% sure- it pipped from the bottom where it was laying on the bottom of the bator- I did not notice it until the other 2 had hatched out and caused the other eggs to roll around a bit- then I saw it. Sometime between 11pm last night and this afternoon...

So you think if the pip is large (smaller than a dime) and I cannot detect any movement than it's probably not a good sign??

Oh definitely leave it. It hasn't been long enough. If you do decide to help it tomorrow morning (maybe afternoon?), peel the shell VERY slowly and carefully. As you work from the head down, if you notice ANY liquid at all, put it back. It could still be absorbing the yolk and some chicks take longer than others. VERY small pieces of the shell. With Elmer, the shell practically fell off because she was so shrink wrapped. I am amazed she made it.

Personally, I would not make that call at this point. It could be resting, absorbing, takin a nap, etc. I had one chick that pipped, then pipped more after 18 hours, then hatched at 25 hours. And then laid there and panted for 3 hours. And that one is now a freakin bully in the brooder!!!

HA HA HA!! That brings me some comfort. I am headed off to bed- have a good night and I'll email tomorrow morning! THANK YOU!!!

My little peeper inside the shell made a pretty good zip last night but he's still in there- I can see him breathing- what do you think- help out or now? He's been in there so long that what I can see is fluffy...
