New Babies from McMurray :)

Hmmm I will have to inspect more when I get home but I know one of them was solid black and then one wasnt.

I do on the other hand think some of them are the dark cornish.

LM
Zino a few days after arrival

And a blurry 1 week old Zino

Yeah mine don't have hairy feet so I don't think that is it :S

I am sure I will be posting pictures asking for help haha

So far my little drunk one is still making it. I have read about some having a weak neck or something and I thought that might be the problem but she seems to be doing better now so I don't know. I got her out and gave her water and food on her own because I think she just kept getting knocked down :S tomorrow I am planning on making the brooder bigger as I didn't realize how much space they would need.

Do you mean wry neck? If you suspect wry neck try a few drops of Polyvisal baby vitamins without iron a day until condition improves.
Sometimes you can get chicken that just fail to thrive no matter what. It could be genetic or something could have just went wrong during development in the egg
It is sad, but part of nature.

Wanted to add, if she is improving that is good. You could give her the vitamins for extra boost. For a fast pickup scramble a couple of eggs, plain, let cool to were eggs a warm enough to give to chicks. Make sure the weaker one gets her share. U may have to give hers to her seperate from the others. For grit u can offer sand to them. I have learned that offering a Frisbee full of sand is a treat in itself as they take their first dustbathe in it.
The scrambled egg is a great source of protien that the chicks can handle that really helps in energizing them.

Thank you Boobear! I will try and give them some egg tonight and see how they like it.

Yes wry neck is what I am talking about. Its like she has trouble holding her neck up but she does feel to be a smaller bird and the others just kind of push her around and climb on her...I put her in her own little box last night so that she could get some rest and this morning she seemed much better...it was alittle funny because by morning she had two guests in her little box :) I should have taken a picture (it was just a small cardboard box with out a top only about 3 inches high...just enough to give her some space of her own) But when I offer her food and etc she eats what I think is a good amount. I am hoping she pulls through we have already named her Sissy...the only one with a name so far :) Today I am hoping to get pictures of all of them so that I can show them off :)

If you can go ahead and get some Polyvisol baby vitamins.
Make sure it does not have iron as the iron is bad for chicks.
You can find this vitamin in the baby section or vitamin section in ur local pharmacy.
It really helps with wry neck.
Silkies are prone to this so I like to give any Silkies chicks I get this vitamin for a few days as a preventative to wry neck.
I hope she continues to improve for u.

Nutri-Drench is formulated for poultry and available at TSC, most likely where ever you buy poultry supplies. I found it to be a life saver for a little chick I had.

Yep I think it is kind of the same thing. I have been putting it in her water as well.....hopefully I can't over dose her on it haha Ok so I just gave her like two drops and then put it in her water so I am pretty sure I am ok. Anyways if she is still acting "different" tonight when I get home I am going to do the same thing again, make sure she is eating, make sure she gets plenty to drink and try to give her a break from the other chicks that are more vigorous! I thought FOR SURE I would lose a few but nope...so far all are happy and healthy :) I am going to need a bigger coop haha :)

Call McMurray on the telephone...Use the standard LOCALLY LISTED Number...These are good people-couldn't have survived 90 plus years otherwise..I understand your frustration but everyone E-Mails and sometimes it's better to be more personal..You seem like a great young person and I'm sure they will do right by you...Good luck.
