new babies - nervious

My 10 y/o DD sat beside the brooder all day, giving us updates at 10-min intervals:

"The chicks are running around!"

"Some of them are drinking!"

"One just pooped!" etc. . . .

It IS exciting! Enjoy!

Did a quick peek. they are all awake (still dark here for about another hour)

No body died, and the coop is around 95 or so. Opeaned the little vent to cool them off a bit.

Dont want to scare them by turning the lamp off and then their little world suddenly goes dark.

I survived night one and so did they.

LOL!!! I tried it when mine were two weeks (w/ the heat lamp and all). I was so exhausted by the next morning, I gave up and reverted back to the house.
Our nights are just to variant here...40s one night, 60 the next. I've been putting them in the coop w/lamp during the day, and bringing them in at night. But I'm gonna give night time another go this weekend cause they're 4 weeks and have decent feathering. I'm envious of your milder, more stable climate!!

for making it through your first night...and with a little sleep it sounds like!! lol

they are so silly!

one got stuck in the feeder. How I have no idea.

Gave them a little cracked corn - once they found it they LOVED it!

So cute.

Going to keep the lamp on with the vent open while I am at work. Hopefully they wont get to hot or cold.

Good Morning Peepers
