Hi all! I'm a new member! I have two hens that live in our yard in a coop that my husband and I built and we just got two three or four day old black australorp chicks. We have a small coop so I didn't want to get more than two chicks because I think four full sized birds would be comfortable and more might lead to unnecessary stress. My question is about the babies, will two be just as happy together as say five or ten? The guy at the feed store kept trying to sell me more but I really didn't want to have a crowded hen house in the future. I adopted the two hens from a friend, and they are a year or so old.

don't let the feed store guy lead you astray, you know how many you'll be able to manage - he does not. He just wants to move stock and make $$$$

Thank you, that is reassuring. I'm just concerned about keeping the two babies happy in their brooder, while the two hens are happy in their coop. I will tackle integrating the flock when the time gets closer.
