So after a tough fall and even tougher winter of losing some hens and young silkies, one of our silkies babies from last year turned out to be a Roo. On top of that today we discovered two peeps under our Plymouth Rock!!!! Apparently our little man has been busy!!!!
So exciting as was unexpected!!! We are letting mama hatch, raise and rear them and let Mother Nature take it's course!!!
We kinda of suspected we had some fertile eggs when we went to cook breakfast one morning and found a baby chick ready to hatch in an egg. So we have letting the broodys sit on the silkie eggs for about a month and just collecting our big girl eggs.
Happy days in the coop!!!! Just had to share!!!
