Thanks to all of you from BYC that helped me out with all my questions! Even with 0 experience, on day 27, (ooo early!) 2 fluffy butts managed to hatch! now on day 28, we hope more will make an appearance. 
one duckling (AKA super duck) hatched in exactly 10 minutes rather than 20 hours. 
he frantically drilled holes with his beak, popped out, and started running around the incubator playing "egg soccer".
we took him out and put him in the brooder. then a second one managed to hatch in an easy 3 hours. I need 2 names for the little rascals. Ideas? They're both brown with a small patch of light yellow on their chests. I'll try to get some pics!
