New Baby Silkies

This is the first time I've ordered chicks and I am very happy with Cackle hatchery. The babies are doing ok except for a little pasty butt. Keeping them cleaned up, one seems to have lost a little fuzz around it's bottom. They are all eating, drinking and pooping

They also love their new Brinsea Ecoglow. I do have 8 silkie eggs in the incubator. Candled them tonight ,but not sure. I'll give it another week and candle them again. I had read about the brain damage that can occur with silkies. I appreciate the info on prednisone. It makes sense that you'd want to reduce swelling. I'll try to get some individual pics this week. The smallest one of the bunch walked to the middle of the brooder and stretched on tiptoes, threw his chest out and I swear looked like he was trying to crow.

My DH named it Peter Pan.

I got 10 silkie chicks from cackle last Wednesday. They are adorable and seem to be healthy except for a few with pasty butt, but that's to be expected. I have given them about half a cup of dry oatmeal a day and it's really seemed to help, plus it's so cute to see them all charge my hand when I give it to them

I'd post some pics but I can not figure out how for the life of me!

Just when I thought I was done falling in love with all the different breeds...A breeder that a bought Barnevelder hatching eggs from gave me some silkie eggs as a bonus....It was like the cupids were hovering over me playing harps and shooting little arrows in my heart

Now I am on a quest to have all the colors!
Cackle Hatchery is a good hatchery. Its been awhile sense I have bought from them, but I was always pleased.
