My husband and I took the plunge in August and order 25 broiler chicks from Freedom Ranger Hatchery (ended up with 26!). We did a lot of reading and research before ordering them, and it all worked out well in the end! I definitely used BYC a lot as we were raising the birds, and in November when we harvested 21 of the birds and moved them to the freezer. We have 5 hens in the backyard, hoping they'll grow into good layers. Since our backyard chickens worked out so well I decided it was officially time to join this forum!
