Sunny side up :)
This last bag of Purina start and grow has some wierd webby cocoons in it. I saw a moth fly out as well. I didnt notice it until one of the babies got a hold of a webby cocoon thingy and started running around squawking like he won the lottery. Then all the others chased him, quite comical but should I be worried? Does this mean the feed is spoiled?
Does this occur often? I can't remember this happening with our other chickens' feed, but it has been several years since I kept chickens. Thanks

Okay thanks, it is kinda gross. It is going back, I hope thier whole shipment isn't bad. The other feed store around here didn't have the medicated starter feed the last time I checked.

I always make them take it back. Bugs in the feed deplete its vitamin content. Even the feed on most bags will tell you not to feed it if there are bugs present. It's not the same as them finding a bug on the ground.

Thanks speckled hen, I wondered what the difference would be if the bug was in the food or if they ate bugs outside anyways. It does make sense that if the bugs are actually eating the feed and laying thier offspring in there that would alter the feed somehow. Besides if we pay for a quality product and that quality is compromised they should have to take it back.
