new bator... 4th attempt...

ok so last hatch didnt do anything either.. they all made it to day 10 or so.... but thats it... GAH! so i replaced the bator. bought a new little giant... its been running for several days now. going to go pick up more local eggs tomorrow! gonna set them as soon as i get them home.... maybe now it will be different? i sure hope so! who else is starting a batch tomorrow?

On the NEW "Little Giant".....It may be worth your while to put a LARGE KNOB on the dial for the heat adjustment on the Little Giant. The little "stem" that they use is difficult to make "slight adjustments" with. A LARGE KNOB (like from an old radio or other appliance) makes minimal adjustments a lot easier to accomplish.

i will give it a shot... so far the temp hasnt changed at all not even a .01 sooo maybe ill get lucky lol im nervous and excited at the same time here.. but trying not to get my hopes up.... i want baby chickies!!

There are various reasons why chicks die in their shells. The fact that they died around day 10 or so gives us a great hint of 2 possible reason.

Firstly it could be due to a lack of fresh air (oxygen). Make sure your room is well ventilated, but not drafty.

A second possible reason for this could be uneven/incorrect temperature. Make sure the temperature is set at around 100 degrees F (in the case of chicken eggs). Slight variations in temperature will be ok, but make sure it is as accurate as possible.

The final reason could be because of a viral infection in your incubator. Sometime eggs can have bacteria on them that can cause the embryo to die inside of the egg. The only way to really get rid of this would be to replace the incubator.

thanks! thats why i got the new bator... thats the only thing i could guess why i never had a good hatch. the old bator was used.... i have the temp stable with humidity at 40%.... we are doing great so far only 20 days to go!
