Can someone tell me how you keep track of your pure bred lines? Do you have some sort of computer program that you use? Are there pedigrees? Do you use a number system/leg bands to tell them apart? I show rabbits and was curious how it's done with chickens.

Thank you so much in advance for answering my question!

legbands work well

and theres no pedigree registries for chickens that i know of but you can by all means make your own for your own records. I do it for my quails.

Thank's for replying...
With the rabbits, I have a computer program that I enter my rabbits pedigrees on. All rabbits that are shown have an ear tattoo. The pedigrees help keep track of who was bred to who up to 4 generations back. I was just curious how those who show chickens keep track of their lines. I figured they would use leg bands.. but wondered how they document all the breedings, previous gens.

For marking your birds, legbands, wingbands and/or toe punching. For record keeping, zooeasy.com, breedbook.com or manual recordkeeping (spiral notebook, excel or access file, etc.)
