New behavior in the coop.

Suddenly, my hens are making big holes in their straw in the coop during the day. The coop looks like a beach ball has landed. Why have they just started doing this?

Is it like they are making nests? Have you been finding eggs away from the nesting boxes? Another possibility is that they are simply entertaining themselves - do they have access to "outdoor activities?"
