New bird mom, looking for community

I removed a sweet cockatiel from a neglect situation. She was already well socialized and hand trained. Her owner, sadly, has extremely poor executive function and was having a difficult time caring for her. She's spent nearly all day on my shoulder, grooming herself and me, dancing to whatever music I've had on, quietly chittering away at me, and banging on my earrings. I freaked out when she started making a grinding noise only to find out it meant she was relaxed. Yeah...I'm going to need help.

Welcome to BYC!!

I’m so glad you were able to adopt this little bird. I’d also like to thank you for being kind and non-judgmental with your words. Many people don’t know about executive dis-function.
Good luck with your new little friend. She sounds adorable ☺️
I try to dance with my ducks but they just give me the side eye like I’m crazy.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Congrats on your rescue Cockatiel! I kept Cockatiels for a couple of decades, fun birds to keep. Cockatiels stress easily, so definitely keep the stress, noise, quick movements down for a while. They are prone to night frights so use a nightlight near the cage. @Yorkshire Coop has left you with our Caged Birds forums, definitely post there.

Welcome aboard!
